Belarus tightens requirements towards investment agents

The Vice Premier spoke about the recent effort to evaluate the efficiency of investment agents. “We found out that the Government empowered many investment agencies to represent the country in attracting investment, but no real work has been actually done. These entities have used these opportunities exclusively for their own purposes, easing conditions for doing their own business,” Sergei Rumas said.

Therefore, some contracts with such investment agents have already been cancelled. “We have warned that the Government cannot hand out such authorities left and right. We will ask for results,” he said. According to him, work with investment agents has not been terminated, but the requirements have been toughened.
