Ways to expand partnership in transport and new joint projects were discussed at a meeting of the joint working group on cooperation in the field of transport between Belarus and the Czech Republic, established as part of the intergovernmental Belarusian-Czech joint commission on trade and economic, industrial and technological cooperation. The co-chairmen of the working group meeting were First Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Vladimir Dervenkov on behalf of Belarus, and Deputy Transport Minister Ivo Vykydal on behalf of the Czech Republic. The meeting discussed cooperation in the field of road, railway and air communication, and also in transport engineering and infrastructure. Vladimir Dervenkov noted the high level of constructive interaction between the two countries and stressed that the sides achieved good results. Thus, in recent years inter-state relations have been increasingly vibrant, which manifests, for example, in active implementation of joint projects. Deputy Transport Minister of the Czech Republic Ivo Vykydal, in turn, expressed his satisfaction with the effective cooperation in the field of transport, transport engineering and infrastructure. The Czech side expressed interest in joint projects with Belarus in the field of logistics, rail transport and transport infrastructure, and multimodal cargo transportation. The parties discussed cooperation in the field of international road transport, in particular bilateral quotas/transit permits for 2012, a possibility of relaxing visa application and issuance requirements for Belarusian international road carriers. The sides praised prospects for the development of rail transport with the creation of the single economic space, great potential for cooperation in the development of container transport. The Czech side believes the traffic flows between the two countries will increase. Interest was shown in the China-Western Europe route, which appeal has also increased through the establishment of the single economic space. “We also see eye to eye about cooperation in aviation. The Czech delegation suggested elaborating a detailed development forecast of the National Airport Minsk that will become an additional guarantee for the projects implemented in the airport,” the press service said. Besides, the parties discussed cooperation in vehicle making with representatives of the management company of the Belkommunmash holding, Minsk Metro and Brest Electrotechnical Plant.
